The Monarch Butterfly artificial diet, AD100 (patent pending), contains specially processed host plant material(Asclepias spp.) and /or derivatives. The monarch diet will feed up to 30 monarch larvae and is formulated to provide complete nutritional support for the transition of larvae into large pupae and adult butterflies.
Note: Larvae must be started on the diet during their 1st-2nd instar. Larger monarch larvae cannot transition from milkweed to the diet and will refuse it. Once transferred from an artificial diet to milkweed the larvae will not return to the artificial diet.
Note: For professional use only. The instructions must be followed to the letter and we do not recommend the artificial diet to beginners. Milkweed plants are available year-round from Educational Science.
